The October paper tax return deadline
The due date for a self-assessment tax return depends on:
- the date of issue of the notice that HMRC send you to tell you to complete a tax return, and
- whether you complete your tax return on paper or online.
The deadline for submitting a paper tax return to HMRC is 31 October 2024. However, if you’re filing online, you have until 31 January 2025.
There are several different deadlines for filing a self-assessment tax return, depending on the method you choose to complete it.
