Awesome individuals wanted for our Exceptional Awards

Nominations for our second Exceptional Awards are still open and for the Perrys staff, this means getting to read wonderful stories about the unsung heroes who are doing so much to make our communities great places to live.

Through our regular news posts we are throwing the spotlight on each individual category to drum up further nominations and spread the word about who is eligible for our accolades.

In this post we discuss the category of Exceptional Individual – telling you who we’re looking for and how you can make a nomination.
Making a difference on their own

Through our Exceptional Awards we aim to recognise and celebrate all those who go above and beyond for their communities – and that includes all those individuals who work tirelessly on their own accord.

This award is returning for 2017 following its phenomenal success last year. Fred and Fran Long from Tonbridge were crowned exceptional individuals at last year’s glittering awards ceremony at Leeds Castle. The category attracted dozens of nominations but the couple’s dedication to help others really shone through.

Since retiring the pair have devoted their time to supporting a huge range of charitable groups and projects, which has seen them working with dementia sufferers, refugees and at a local homeless shelter.

Speaking at last year’s ceremony Fred said the couple were “overjoyed” to receive the award.

Worthy nominees

We are now on the lookout for people like Fred and Fran who give up their time to support others and really go the extra mile to help their neighbourhoods thrive.
Nominees can come from any corner of Kent and help with any kind of group in any and all sectors, be it health, education, animal care or in supporting the vulnerable.

Does your neighbour get up an hour early every morning to help walk dogs at the local kennels or spend their evenings volunteering at a nearby homeless shelter? Or perhaps your boss runs three marathons a year for homegrown causes or one of your friends has run the village Scout or Guide unit for the last 20 years.

Whatever they have done, we want to hear about the Exceptional Individuals making a difference in your community.

Our CEO Stewart said: “There are so many people out there who are dedicating their time to any number of groups but haven’t had their deserved moment in the spotlight.

“We want to give them the recognition they deserve. We’ve had some lovely nominations already come through but are always keen to hear more, so if you know a deserving individual who would be a contender for our awards send their name in.”
