Perrys staff take fundraising to new heights!
Four plucky members of our Wrotham team have completed a fundraising challenge that’s definitely not for the faint-hearted!
Donna McCreadie, Ryan Adams, Luke Melvin and David Hardie performed a tandem skydive at the end of October, jumping from a plane flying at 12,000 feet. After a thorough briefing, they paired with an instructor then took it in turns to exit the plane, piloting the parachute through the freefall stage and landing safely on the airfield at Headcorn near Ashford, Kent.
Their adrenaline-fuelled feat was captured on camera and you can watch incredible footage from the skydive here.
The charity skydive has raised over £2,500 including gift aid for Family Matters, smashing the original fundraising target of £2,000.
Donna, Director of our Wrotham branch, said: “The skydive was such an amazing, unforgettable experience for all of us. The training was absolutely brilliant – the instructors managed to make us feel at ease so that when the time came to jump we were all confident and ready to go.
“Family Matters is a wonderful charity that desperately needs additional funding to provide much needed support and counselling. We are so grateful for all the donations received, and the encouragement from all our colleagues, families and friends.”
Congratulations to our courageous quartet – we couldn’t be more proud of your achievement! There’s still time to donate – head to the skydive Virgin Money Giving page to make a contribution. The page will be open for donations until January 2019.
Naomi makes Team GB women’s ice hockey squad
Yet more fantastic news to report, this time from our colleague Naomi Healey. Naomi, who’s based at our Orpington office, has been selected as part of the Team GB women’s ice hockey squad. As one of four goalies in the squad, she’s training hard in the hope she’ll make the final selection when the team goes to the 2019 Women’s Ice Hockey World Championships in Finland. Go for it, Naomi – we’ll be cheering you all the way!
Perrys sponsors Tonbridge runner in her mission to represent England
We’re always keen to support local charities, community initiatives and exceptional individuals. So when we heard about Nicole Taylor, a 23-year-old Tonbridge runner whose ambition is to run for England, we decided to offer her £2,000 of sponsorship to help achieve those dreams. The sponsorship will fund the costs of specialist trainers and kit, as well as allowing her to join a gym. Best of luck to Nicole!
